“We stumbled across Charles’ birdwatching tour while looking for an alternative to our cancelled whale watching trip—and what a lucky discovery it turned out to be! Not only did we discover how fun and fascinating birdwatching can be (yes, even for teens!), but we also learned lots about the unique ecology of the Lofoten Islands—everything from bird behavior to local conservation projects and the delicate balance of this incredible landscape. Charles’ storytelling, depth of knowledge, and genuine passion brought everything to life in such a natural and engaging way. It made it easy for our teenagers to connect—not just with him, but also with the message behind his work. He has a wonderful way of making wildlife conservation feel personal, important, and inspiring, even for young minds. We also had the joy of meeting his lovely wife Rachel and their two super cute dogs. On top of it all, we ended the journey at a “secret” fishing spot that totally made our boys’ day. Thank you, Charles, for an unforgettable experience and for sharing your world with us! This will stay with us for years to come!”

“We arrived in Flakstadøya in the Lofoten Islands to a wonderful and enthusiastic greeting by Charles Post. If one could define a passion for birds briefly ‘Charles Post’ would fit quite right. His dedication to bird conservation is unsurpassed. Consequently our hours birding with Charles were full of his bird knowledge as well as some interesting cultural nuggets regarding not only the Flakstad area, but also Norway in general. Charles’ efforts to see birds on our behalf was over and above our expectations. He took us in tow to all his hotspots and went all out to show us shorebirds, forest dwellers and open country species. It was so many more birds than we would have seen on our own. Our time and money were well spent with Charles and his gracious wife, Rachel, in the beautiful Flakstad area. Thank you Charles and Rachel!”

“Wow - what a great day! We are in the beginning of our birding journey, and decided to dive into the wildlife that Lofoten offers during our trip in late May. We are so glad that we did! Charles had great advice/stories and was very knowledgeable about the ecology of the Lofoten Islands. Even more important, you can tell how passionate he is about the work that he does. Charles showed us a variety of different environments, and taught us about the different birds that live in each of them! This was absolutely a highlight of our trip, and we are so glad we went for the full day adventure. Coming out of the day, we felt like we gained an understanding of Lofoten as a whole, and are going home even more hooked on birding than when we left! Thank you again Charles for such a wonderful day!”

I booked a full day of birding with Charles after finding his website online. Needless to say, I was impressed at his experiences as a biologist and filmmaker and was looking forward to learning more about the ecology and biodiversity of the arctic.
During our time together, Charles made me feel right at home as we explored the landscape looking for birds. He is a keen observer, a skilled conversationalist, and a knowledgeable guide. Our time together flew by as we enjoyed great looks at multiple target species I was seeking. Charles was patient, took time to answer all of my questions, and honored my requests and was flexible in how we spent our time birding. We stopped to admire the delicate patterns of eggs, examine feathers, and talk about conservation. It’s clear Charles is a positive force for good on behalf of the birds we love, and his passion for taking action and making a positive impact is contagion's.
I highly recommend booking time with Charles, and letting him curate your next Lofoten adventure. I know when I come back, I’ll have a friend to bird with. Superior operation all around! Thank you Charles and Rachel!

“We found Lofoten Birding while browsing the Destination Lofoten site, just looking for some unique local experiences for our trip. None of us were serious birders — in fact, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a guided bird trip. But wow, I’m so glad we went for it. Charles made the entire experience feel welcoming, exciting, and honestly kind of magical. His passion is contagious. He didn’t just point out birds — he shared the stories behind them, the landscape, and the rhythms of the place in a way that completely drew me in.
I came away from the workshop totally hooked. I see birds differently now. I notice them. I’ll never take a trip again without binoculars in my bag. Thanks to Charles, I think I’ve found a new lifelong love — and a deeper way of connecting with the places I visit.”

“I’ve been birding for a long time, and honestly, I don’t usually go for guided trips. But this one felt different. I’ve followed Charles and his work for years, so getting the chance to actually explore Lofoten with him was incredible. He’s not just a great biologist — he knows these islands inside out. We ended up in places I never would’ve found on my own, full of birds and totally untouched. It really was the highlight of our trip!”

“Thank you for a wonderful birding experience in the Flakstad area. It was so much more rewarding to spend the time with you than to flounder about on my own. After merging my eBird lists, additions, and subtractions, it came to 32 species, most of which were new for me! I would not have come close to that without your keen eyes and experience. Also, thank you for adjusting our schedule to fit the weather. Obviously you made a good call on that.
On thinking about what we saw, I agree that seeing the Sparrowhawk hunting the swallow was the highlight. I was also so pleased to see the Arctic Tern and Arctic Loon. I’m not likely to see anything with Arctic in the name while living in VA. Finally, I searched in vain for a Puffin while leaving Moskenes, but I did see the one in the gift shop. Think I can count it? Seriously though, I did see 3 No. Gannets from the ferry, so that was exciting. Guess I’ll just have to make a trip back again for the Puffin and Sea Eagle!”

“I highly recommend Charles Post. My wife and I hired Charles for a private two-day birding tour of the Lofoten Islands in July 2025 and had a fantastic time. Charles is a trained conservationist and did a wonderful job locating and identifying local birds large and small. But he also is a goodwill ambassador and spent much time sharing with us the history and culture of the islands, and Norway in general. As a transplanted American, Charles was able to give insights into Norwegian culture that might have been less apparent to a native. The islands were crowded but Charles took us on walks and hikes off the beaten track, and we were able to feel like we had the islands to ourselves. As a bonus, he also recommended some excellent dining options. Charles made our trip to Lofoten very special, and we hope we can connect with him again soon. ”

“Birding with Charles in Lofoten was something special. I’ve watched his films and read his work for ages, so it already felt like I knew him a bit. But seeing him in his element — showing us hidden corners of the islands, sharing stories, spotting birds most people would miss — it was just so real. You could tell he genuinely wanted us to have the best experience possible. I came home with lifers and a full heart.”
